Time to Updeezy the Live-izzle Journizzle [11 Feb 2003|03:05pm]
Its been a long time...

I am fairly settled at my new place in the city. I love it. So much better than freekin' Woburn. Course, I would like it to be warmer so i could get out and walk around more, but that will happen soon enough.

Although I skipped last night, mondays are for going to Wally's Cafe. That place rocks. I love that I can WALK to it now too!!!! wooohoooo.

I will be at the Enormous Room this thursday (Feb 13th), so come on out to hear some good funk and soul. My friend Tall Matt will be spinning with me too. He just released a new mix CD with 7L (from 7L & Esoteric)...you should be able to find that online or at the show this thursday. AND I'll have limited copies of my new cd 'Live @ The Enormous Room Vol. 3' available this thursday too, so come early to grab one.

[ mood | ecstatic ]

I FINALLY MOVED!!!!! Woohooo......No more living in the 'burbs. I moved into my new apartment in the Boston's Back Bay....right on Boylston street, so I can walk to just about anywhere! My commute to work is longer, but its still not that bad.

I am still in the process of unpacking tho....27 boxes of records, not even counting 45s! Zoinks.

This thursday I'll be DJing at the Enormous Room in Central Square. So come on down and chill out for a while. I'll be playing the soul & funk of course......mxing in some hiphop and maybe a few deep house cuts too.

Awwwww YEAH! [02 Dec 2002|01:54pm]
[ mood | ecstatic ]

I won all my auctions! wooooo hoooooooo

The Naomi Davis 10" is MINE!!!!!!! AND the 41st street breakdowne.....not to mention the Joseph Henry 'Whos the King', and a few other Desco goodies.

Now I don't want to hear from anyone about the cost, cause dammit, these records are super good & outta print (or never in print). I don't give a &#$& if they WERE only made a few years ago. Show me someplace else where I could have gotten a copy of 'Wind Your Clock', hell, I'd buy another copy!

Monday is eBay day [02 Dec 2002|10:01am]
[ mood | working ]

I got a bunch of 45 auctions I am gonna be trying to win today. snipe-y snipe!

eBay sure has changed the collectors market, for better or worse. Personally, I love it. Prices may have gone up, but the smart collector can pick up stuff not able to be found anywhere else.

Idea for the day: eBay in reverse. Online collector wantlists. I saw a website trying to something like this but they made it like a want-ad, too generic with no added benefits. I want collector genre specifc types of wantlists. The ability to do searches on the data, such as finding what is the most-wanted item in a certain genre. Such as the most desired funk 45 etcetc.

I added a new show to my webpage....although the playlist isn't up yet. And dammit, the realaudio server is down again....

Its been a long time (again).

I found out that someone I know in RL is on LiveJournal. Thats a trip. I have met people on LJ first, then in RL, but its more rare the other way. I wonder what the record is for how long you know someone before you find out they are on LJ. I'm sure someone, somewhere is keeping track of that kind of thing.

I am in this months issue of Boston Magazine! And they mentioned my run in with the FBI....haha......... On the run from johnny law, it ain't no trip to cleveland!

This has been a long weekend....lots o' fun too. Definately don't want to go back to work tomorrow.

This thursday I'll be at the Enormous Room in Central Square. Details to come.

Also, next weekend is the record fair in Chelmsford. The record fair formerly known as BigEds. Now its Monkeyhouse.

Off to try and find the Rams game on tv....

Pimpin' In The Worst Way [01 Oct 2002|02:05pm]
Found out last night I got a monthly residency at The Enormous Room! wooohoooo! I play there a week from Thursday (Oct. 10th), and after that it will be the first Thursday of every month! Niiiiiiice.

Met up with DJ Marco</nobr> last night, had a few drinks & talked the funk. He brought me a copy of Gloria Walker "You Hit The Spot Baby"! Been itchin for that record for a long ass time....

Other recent records:

OutKast - So Fresh So Clean (rmx w/ Snoop Dogg)
Snoops verse on here is sooooo good, and the overall vibe is just super pimped out.

Trick Daddy - In Da Wind (feat Cee lo)
This is the new 85.

Panache - Every Brother Ain't a Brother
Nice disco tune, has the Lady Don't Tek No sample on it.

Disco Spectrum 3
ehh.....not as good as I hoped but I havn't listened to it alot. BT Express?

Black Reniassance
Jazzy Funk reissue on Ubiquity. Jazz isn't normally my thing, but a friend suggested it, so I figured I'd check it out.

I am hitting up Big Ed's Record Faire this sunday so hopfully I'll grab some nice stuff there, as long as everyone isn't down in Austin.

Best gig ever... [11 Sep 2002|04:12pm]
Last night I DJ'd at 'The Enormous Room' in Cambridge. Right in the middle of Central Square. Its a real nice, chilled out spot. I was really looking forward to it, cause I figured my music would go over well there.

Everything was perfect! I didn't know it before I got there, but they even had a belly dancer scheduled to perform from 9:30-9:45! That was cool.

I played everything from Thievery Corporation to James Brown to Mystikal to Inell Young. (not in that order). Everyone seemed to like it, and for a place with no dance floor, I even had some people dancing! woohoo!!!

Peej PeejBacks Baadasssss Song [28 Aug 2002|08:37pm]
[ mood | Funky ]

Lord! Has it been this long since my last update?

Whats been happening lately.........hmmmm.......well, my jobbie job is going crazy. We have a new boss now, and its starting to look like some more changes are coming soon. Ah...the technology industry.

I got my latest order from Dusty Groove today. I like ordering represses & new stuff from there. I'll probably end up replacing some of it with originals soon, but I figure I'd start with these represses. Check the haul:

Hot Chocolate - Hot Chocolate
Willie Hutch - The Mack Soundtrack
Melvin Van Peebles - Sweet Sweetback's Baadassssss Song
Roy Ayers - Coffy Sndtrk
James Brown - There It Is
James Brown - Think!
James Brown - Slaughters Big Ripoff
James Brown - Black Caesar
Bobby Womack/JJ Johnson - Across 110th Street
Detroit Sex Machines - Stretch pt1/2
El Michels Affair - Easy Affair Pt1/2

Awwww yeah.

Anyone in the Boston area should check out The Enormous Room in Central Square. I have been there a few times and its always been fun. No dancing...but a nice chilled out spot, and excellent music. Last night I heard some soulfire classics, some nice jazzy funk, a few latin joints and a bunch of afrobeat. Nice nice nice.

I've been sleeeeepin! [06 Jul 2002|01:19pm]
I used to think I followed films.....like if a movie came out that i would like, I usually went to see it, or AT LEAST knew about it. Sure, I havn't seen Spiderman yet, or ever made it to see Dogtown and Z Boys, but I know I should. They didn't come out and smack me upside the head.

Then I see a movie like Donnie Darko. HOLY SHIT! How could I have missed this movie? Why am I so lame? This is now one of my favorite flicks. It has humor, a good story, and is remarkably touching. All without spoonfeeding the audience. It is set in the 80s, so its kinda like if John Hughes directed American Beauty, but it had more of a gothic/scifi edge to it.

I have to give it up to the Suicide Girls message boards, as the people there turned me on to this flick. And on top of it all, Drew Barrymore is in it!

Thanks goodness for DVD.
